8 Bible Verses About War

SHARE
The whole world has been dumbfounded by the ongoing war in Ukraine. People were in shock when Russia invaded the second largest country in Europe on February 24, never expecting that something like this could happen in the 21st century.
Millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes, leaving most of them distraught and displaced. But as Christians, we should know by now that this is to be expected.
It is important to note that it is even mentioned in Scriptures that wars would be more recurrent as we draw closer to the end days.
But what exactly does the Bible say about wars? And what should we, as devoted followers of Christ, do when we see all of these things pan out? Let’s take a look at these verses from the Holy book!
MATTHEW 24:6
When the end is nigh, wars and the rumors of wars will circulate and be more prevalent. However, the world will not come to an end just yet. The bible describes this as “birth pains” and stresses that we should all prepare but not panic.
ECCLESIASTES 3:8
There are times when wars must take place because humans are prone to sin. People have to learn that they cannot carry on with their wicked ways, hence the Lord allows chaos and destruction to occur. Through nations, the Lord uses them in order to discipline his people.
JOEL 3:9
This verse states significant events which Joel, the prophet, had foreseen. It is written here that enemies of the church will arise and cause mayhem in the world. The people of God will be terrorized by their enemies, but despite all this, they are being encouraged to take up arms and fight.
PROVERBS 24:6
Notwithstanding the destruction brought about by the adversaries of the church, victory is still assured, according to what is written in scriptures. Through God’s grace, people will prevail, therefore they have nothing to fear.
REVELATION 12: 7-8
During the second coming of Christ, angelic beings will play a major part in this significant event. Archangel Michael, along with other angels, will slay the dragon (satan), and this evil entity will finally be defeated and thrown down to the ends of the earth.
DEUTERONOMY 20:1
God reminds his people not to be frightened of the enemy. There is no need to be intimidated by them, because God the Father is the same supernatural being that helped and freed the Israelites back then when they were ruled by Egypt.
JEREMIAH 51:20
In this verse, the prophet Jeremiah speaks on behalf of God and says that the Lord will guide and use His people to defeat their nemesis. It is clear that God the father has pronounced his judgment on Babylon and showed that He will do whatever it takes to protect Israel.
ISAIAH 2:4
Many wars will come about, but they, too, shall come to an end. Wars will cease to exist only because God has control of everything. In the end, evil will lose and good will prevail – therefore, it is important to note that we have the Lord to thank for that.
